Comité Champagne has appointed Quebec-based company Lamoureux & Co as its official representative for the Canadian market. The office will be led by Claudie Lamoureux, who will be supported by Amanda Johnson, who is based in Toronto. Together, they will oversee the Canadian market, providing coverage from coast to coast.

Established over 80 years ago, the Comité Champagne brings together all players in the Champagne industry, including 16,200 winegrowers, 130 cooperatives, and 370 Champagne houses. Its mission is to safeguard the interests of the Champagne sector through a wide range of initiatives, encompassing regulation, economic development, and advice in viticulture, oenology, and sustainable development. The Comité is dedicated to the continuous improvement of quality and the global promotion and protection of the Champagne appellation.

The Canadian Bureau becomes the 11th international Bureau, joining those in Germany and Austria, Australia, Benelux, China, the United States, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, the Nordic countries, and Switzerland.

With 18 years of experience in wine marketing within the Canadian market, Claudie Lamoureux brings a wealth of expertise and a strong network, working alongside a dedicated team of skilled professionals. Claudie is both proud and excited to represent Champagne in Canada: “It is a tremendous honor to be the Director of the 11th Champagne Bureau, and I am enthusiastic about contributing to the protection and promotion of the Champagne Appellation in Canada,” she stated.

Amanda Johnson began her wine industry career in 2006. She holds a professional sommelier accreditation from the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers (CAPS) and has earned the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine.

Their primary mission will be to educate, inform, and engage with industry professionals, including those in monopolies and private retailers, the media, sommeliers, the hospitality sector, wine agencies, and various associations. They will place a strong emphasis on highlighting the distinctive qualities of the Champagne appellation and its origin.

Canada ranks as the 10th largest export market for Champagne, with over 2.8 million bottles exported annually.
