Event Details:

Wine is being questioned, challenged, and redefined. So let’s talk about it.

On March 10, CAPS Ontario convenes an intimate gathering of working sommeliers, producers, importers, and internationally respected wine author Ian D’Agata for a candid and forward-looking conversation about where wine stands today and where it is heading next.

This panel brings together voices that represent the full arc of the wine ecosystem: from the restaurant floor to the cellar, from portfolio development to global scholarship. Together, we will explore the evolving landscape of wine through themes including shifting consumer behaviour, pricing pressures, authenticity, communication, and the broader cultural relevance of wine in 2026.

Following the moderated discussion, guests will participate in a curated guided tasting, offering an opportunity to continue the dialogue in a more informal setting. Light snacks will be served during the meet and mingle.

Featuring:
  • Ian D’Agata – Internationally respected wine author and global authority on Italian wine
  • Thomas Bachelder – Acclaimed Canadian winemaker known for site-driven wines in Niagara
  • Jennifer Wood – President, CAPS Ontario & wine importer
  • Ben Plisky-Somers – Co-owner, Bossanova Wine & Beer
  • James Li – Sommelier, Enigma | 2025 Best Sommelier of Ontario finalist

Moderated by Ekta Sachdev, Wine Communicator and Social Media Director, CAPS Ontario. Wine communicator and Social Media Director, CAPS Ontario. With over 15 years of experience across global hospitality, sales, and marketing, Ekta focuses on clear, relevant, trade-driven wine communication.
